trying to balance social media trends, finding your niche(s) and filming content while avoiding doom scrolling can make creating content overstimulating. this is why i do the same 3 things every week to prevent burnout and excessive screen time. here’s my big 3:
lower the barrier of filming - film your everyday activities. i try to align my filming days with things i’m doing throughout the week. when you brainstorm and execute video ideas that accompany an activity that you are actually doing that day, it’s way less exhausting and more authentic. for example, my local bookstore called me saying that my book is ready for pick up. this is a great opportunity to film a few videos from just one simple activity such as:
grwm (do my makeup with me)
outfit of the day (‘what i’m wearing & reading’)
‘come to the bookstore with me’ & also just including it in my YouTube vlog.
that’s 3 short-form videos and a fun little snippet to include in my YouTube vlog just from one simple activity of picking up my book.
another example is filming my workouts - i’m currently training for a marathon and my weekly workouts consist of runs, pilates and strength training. these are daily activities that present an opportunity to film:
‘workouts of the week’
organic mention in my YouTube vlogs
‘bits of my day’
‘grwm for the gym’
simplify the creating process and focus on documenting rather than curating. i promise you it’s a lot easier to film content around an activity that you are actually doing. if you’re having trouble brainstorming ideas around an activity, use chatgpt or scroll through your favorite creator’s videos to gather inspo!
i like to list out my content ideas in my notes app because i open my notes app everyday and it’ll keep me on track! here’s a screenshot of my very simple breakdown for last weekend’s content plan:
